The Maldives which is officially known as Republic of Maldives is
an island nation situated in the Indian Ocean and is the smallest Asian
country. It is said that this island was formed from the double chain
of twenty-six atolls stretching in a north-south direction of the
Lakshadweep islands of India. Male, the capital city of Maldives is also
the largest city of the island.
